Ingredients
- 3 lbs apples - I used Macintosh
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 tbsp. cinnamon - optional (add more or less according to your taste)
- 1 tbsp. freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 1/4 tsp. salt
Method
- Peel the apples with a vegetable peeler. Quarter them through the stem, then cut out the cores. Dice the apples into 1- to 2-inch pieces.
- Place the apples in a slow cooker and then add the water, cinnamon, lemon juice, and salt. Stir all the ingredients well to combine.
- Cook on the high setting for 4 hours.
- Using an immersion blender, puree the applesauce until it gets a very smooth texture. However, if you like chunky applesauce you can skip this step.
- Let the applesauce cool to room temperature, serve and enjoy!
- Store in airtight containers (I prefer to use glass containers) in the refrigerator for up to 7 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.
